The Commander-in-Chief of the French Armed Forces (French: Commandant en chef des forces armées françaises) is the supreme authority for military matters of the French Armed Forces, a position vested in the President of the Republic. This position is given to the President with Article 15. of the French constitution, making him "chef des armées", which means "chief of the armed forces" or "chief of the armies".
