Chavannes-le-Veyron is a municipality in the district of Morges in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.
Chavannes-le-Veyron is first mentioned in 1285.
Chavannes-le-Veyron has an area, as of 2009[update], of 2.63 square kilometers (1.02 sq mi). Of this area, 1.81 km2 (0.70 sq mi) or 68.8% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.68 km2 (0.26 sq mi) or 25.9% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.16 km2 (0.062 sq mi) or 6.1% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.01 km2 (2.5 acres) or 0.4% is either rivers or lakes.
Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 2.7% and transportation infrastructure made up 3.4%. Out of the forested land, all of the forested land area is covered with heavy forests. Of the agricultural land, 52.5% is used for growing crops and 14.4% is pastures, while 1.9% is used for orchards or vine crops. All the water in the municipality is flowing water.
The municipality was part of the Cossonay District until it was dissolved on 31 August 2006, and Chavannes-le-Veyron became part of the new district of Morges.
The municipality is located in the heights above the Veyron river (a tributary of the Venoge river).
The blazon of the municipal coat of arms is Azure, on a Bend wavy Argent three Minnows fesswise Or. The minnows (French: vairon) may be a canting reference to name of the river Veyron.
Chavannes-le-Veyron has a population (as of December 2015[update]) of 120. As of 2008[update], 4.9% of the population are resident foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years (1999–2009 ) the population has changed at a rate of -12.1%. It has changed at a rate of -14.4% due to migration and at a rate of 2.3% due to births and deaths.
