Chattaroy is a census-designated place (CDP) in Mingo County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 756 at the 2010 census.
The community's name is an accurate preservation of the Native American name of the nearby Big Sandy River, Chattaroy.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 7.1 square miles (18.5 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,136 people, 475 households, and 342 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 159.3 people per square mile (61.5/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 97.80% White, 1.41% African American, 0.09% Native American, and 0.70% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.53% of the population.
