Charlie Airlines (operating as Cyprus Airways) is a Cyprus-based airline, based at Larnaca International Airport. The airline takes its name from the former bankrupt Cyprus Airways after winning trade mark rights to use the name. The airline's logo incorporates an olive branch, the main symbol of Cyprus.
In 2016, it was announced that S7 Airlines planned to launch a Cypriot airline under the name Charlie Airlines. In July 2016 it was announced that the airline had won a competition for the right to use the trademark Cyprus Airways for a decade.
On 4 March 2017, the airline conducted its proving flight from Larnaca International Airport to Heraklion International Airport with Airbus A319, as part of the procedure to obtain the certificate.
On 14 March 2017, it was announced that the airline had obtained the Air Operator Certificate from the Cypriot Department of Civil Aviation.
