Charla Doherty (August 6, 1946 – May 29, 1988) was an American actress who had short-term roles on Wagon Train and Dr. Kildare before originating the role of Julie Olson on the soap opera Days of Our Lives. Doherty played the role from 1965 until she left the series in 1967.
She also played the role of Nancy in the 1965 movie Village of the Giants.
She played the role of Joanna Ramsey in the 1967 made-for-television movie In the Year 2889.
She also directed and starred in local theater productions and was active in a non-profit group that fed the homeless.
Doherty died in 1988 at the age of 41. She died of "natural causes" at her mother's home in Woodland Hills, CA on May 29, 1988. She was survived by her son, Trevor Black and her mother, Toni Doherty.
The cause of death was listed as pancreatitis, due to chronic alcoholism.
