Chandler Riggs (born June 27, 1999) is an American actor, known for his role as Carl Grimes on The Walking Dead, an AMC television horror drama series (2010–present).
Riggs was born in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of Gina Ann (née Carlton) and William Riggs. He has a younger brother, Grayson.
Riggs played a Munchkin in his musical theater debut, Atlanta's Fox Theater production of The Wizard of Oz, and in 2009 at age nine got his first two major acting breaks simultaneously, as Tom in the film Get Low and a bit part in the television movie The Wronged Man.
At age 10, Riggs was cast in his biggest role to date: Carl Grimes in The Walking Dead, an AMC horror drama television series. Grimes, his family and friends fight to survive in a violent apocalyptic world populated with zombies and the few surviving humans, some of whom are even more diabolical and dangerous than the zombies themselves. The series is the highest rated in cable television history and has smashed all previous ratings records. Riggs had previously worked with the show's executive producer Gale Anne Hurd on The Wronged Man.
In 2012 and 2013, Riggs was nominated for the Young Artist Award for Best Leading Young Actor for his role on the show, and in 2014 won that award and a Saturn award.
