Champtauroz is a municipality in the district of Broye-Vully in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.
Champtauroz is first mentioned in 1228 as Chantuoro.
Champtauroz has an area, as of 2009[update], of 3.05 square kilometers (1.18 sq mi). Of this area, 2.28 km2 (0.88 sq mi) or 74.8% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.59 km2 (0.23 sq mi) or 19.3% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.15 km2 (37 acres) or 4.9% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.01 km2 (2.5 acres) or 0.3% is either rivers or lakes. Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 2.0% and transportation infrastructure made up 2.3%. Out of the forested land, all of the forested land area is covered with heavy forests. Of the agricultural land, 62.3% is used for growing crops and 11.8% is pastures. All the water in the municipality is in lakes.
The municipality was part of the Payerne District until it was dissolved on 31 August 2006, and Champtauroz became part of the new district of Broye-Vully.
The municipality is located along the Lucens-Yvonand street. It consists of the village of Champtauroz and the hamlet of Le Pontet.
The blazon of the municipal coat of arms is Per fess Gules a Castle Argent, and Plain Argent.
Champtauroz has a population (as of December 2015[update]) of 133. As of 2008[update], 6.7% of the population are resident foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years (1999–2009 ) the population has changed at a rate of 9.3%. It has changed at a rate of 4.6% due to migration and at a rate of 4.6% due to births and deaths.
Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks French (95 or 95.0%), with German being second most common (3 or 3.0%) and English being third (1 or 1.0%).
