Chalasani Venkata Rathnam

Chalasani Venkataratnam was a Communist leader in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India.

Not much is known about his early life.

Chalasani Venkata Ratnam was the Communist leader who had some influence over the settlements going on in the state of Andhra Pradesh or at least in the city of Vijayawada at that time. He was known to be a landlord and had ruled the Automobile Industry. Vangaveeti Radha Krishna (who was known as "Bus Stand" Radha at that time) entered as one of his party members. The collapse of Vijayawada city started with the arrival of Radha as he started expanding his base from bus stand. Venkata Ratnam wanted to tame Radha because Radha's power was increasing in his areas. So to keep his power to himself and not let it pass on to the hands of a young Radha and with the death of Venkata Ratnam, Radha started to rule the city of Vijayawada for next few years.

In 1972, he was brutally stabbed to death by members of Radha's gang and died on the spot.
