Center for Health Transformation (CHT) is a member and partner based professional services organization that focuses on issues affecting the quality, cost, access and delivery of healthcare in the legislative and regulatory environment of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) in which multi-hospital healthcare organizations currently operate. CHT envisions itself as a learning network, connecting with academic institutions such as Georgia State University and Kennesaw State University to create learning laboratories.
CHT states that it supports the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) "Triple Aim" solutions to healthcare delivery and financing models. This model was developed by Dr. Don Berwick Founder and CEO of the IHI and consists of three elements:
CHT maintains a web-based knowledge center containing best practices, innovation opportunities, and updates on CHT related projects. CHT is a collaboration of health systems that meet in a non-partisan and transparent manner with a goal of discovering and sharing best practice solutions to improve quality, decrease costs and improve access. CHT operates as an independent LLC entity with funding coming from memberships, grants and contributing partners. To be considered for membership, a health system must be: not-for-profit; multi-facility; employ complimentary ancillary services; and commit to active participation by its President/CEO and other senior executives.
Center for Health Transformation (CHT) was re-envisioned in 2012 by WellStar Health System president and CEO, Reynold Jennings, as a means to leverage the collective talent of various healthcare systems, which would collaboratively approach significant problems in healthcare. Jennings believes that transforming healthcare requires multiple, independent viewpoints that analyze case studies from dissimilar clinical silos.
CHT now focuses on a multivariate approach to specific clinical challenges, and creates adoptable, repeatable solutions for all of its member institutions. In a transparent format, participating systems identify workable solutions for duplication at member hospitals, within the model of “operationalize sustainable best practices℠”, thus attempting to improve the quality of care while simultaneously lowering costs.
