Cats in Space (styled CATS in SPACE - The Band) is a British "power pop" rock band formed in Horsham, West Sussex in 2015 by founder members, guitarist Greg Hart and drummer Steevi Bacon. Following the band's inception, vocalist Paul Manzi, keyboardist Andy Stewart, bassist Jeff Brown and second guitarist Dean Howard were recruited to complete the official lineup. The band went on to record their debut album Too Many Gods, which, had guest vocal appearances by key songwriter Greg Hart's fellow co-writer Mick Wilson of 10cc, as well as Andy Scott of The Sweet. Notably, the Cat's seven minute epic "The Greatest Story Never Told" from the aforementioned album features a full eighty-piece orchestra that was scored, recorded, directed and conducted by producer Mike Moran.
The band made their debut appearance at London's The Half Moon,Putney SW15 on Wednesday 6 January 2016. After a couple more low key appearances they accepted their fourth show at the Stone Free Festival at London's O2 Arena on Sunday, 19 June 2016. This weekender featured headliners Alice Cooper on the Saturday and Rick Wakeman on the Sunday.
Their fifth performance was at The Ramblin' Man Fair, on the new Rising Stage at Mote Park, Maidstone, Kent on 24 July 2016. The lineup over the weekend featured many original classic rock band luminaries including Whitesnake, Europe, Thin Lizzy, Thunder, Airbourne and Black Stone Cherry.
CATS in SPACE were confirmed on 23 January 2017 as the tour support for legendary UK rock band THUNDER' on their UK tour of MARCH 2017. Dates were as follows - 17th Manchester Apollo – SOLD OUT, 18th Sheffield City Hall – SOLD OUT, 19th Newcastle City Hall – SOLD OUT, 21st Leicester De Montfort Hall, 22nd Glasgow Clyde Auditorium 24th Cardiff Motorpoint Arena, 25th Southampton Guildhall – SOLD OUT, 26th Ipswich Regent – SOLD OUT, 28th London Eventim Apollo (aka Hammersmith Odeon)
