According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 5.5 square miles (14 km2), of which, 5.4 square miles (14 km2) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2) of it (1.10%) is water.

As of the census of 2000, there were 3,291 people, 1,176 households, and 952 families residing in the borough. The population density was 610.4 people per square mile (235.7/km²).
