The Carlynton School District is a small, suburban, public school district located approximately six miles west of downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The district covers five square miles, including the Boroughs of Carnegie, Crafton and Rosslyn Farms. From these communities comes the name Carlynton (Carnegie, Rosslyn Farms and Crafton). According to 2000 federal census data, it serves a resident population of 15,559. In 2009, the district residents' per capita income was $22,323, while the median family income was $46,345. Per District officials, in school year 2005-06 the Carlynton School District provided basic educational services to 1,550 pupils through the employment of 111 teachers, 78 full-time and part-time support personnel, and 9 administrators. Carlynton School District received more than $6.2 million in state funding in school year 2005-06. The district operates three schools: two elementary schools K-6th and one junior senior high school grades 7th-12th.

In 2011, Carlynton School District ranked 255th out of 498 Pennsylvania districts. The ranking is based on five years of student academic achievement as demonstrated by PSSAs results in reading, writing, math and three years of science.
