Cape Verdean local elections, 2008

Local elections were held in Cape Verde on 18 May 2008. They marked the first time that 22 municipalities were elected, four more than in 2004. One municipality, São Nicolau, was split into two; Ribeira Brava and Tarrafal de São Nicolau.

The MpD won in the municipalities of Boa Vista, Paul, Porto Novo, the capital Praia, RIbeira Grande, Ribeira Grande de Santiago, São Miguel and Tarrafal Swhile PAICV won in the municipalities of Mosteiros, Ribeira Brava, Santa Catarina do Fogo, São Filipe, São Lourenço dos Órgãos and Tarrafal de São Nicolau.
