Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is a first-person shooter video game developed by Raven Software and published by Activision. A remastered version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, it was released worldwide on November 4, 2016 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms. It is only available by purchasing either the Legacy, Digital Deluxe or Legacy Pro editions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, with physical versions requiring the Infinite Warfare disc inserted to access the remaster.

Modern Warfare Remastered builds upon the original by featuring extensive graphical enhancements, lighting and rendering upgrades, remastering original sound effects as well as adding new, and offers numerous small improvements and alterations while retaining the original core gameplay. The remaster received positive reviews from critics, who lauded the improved graphics, sound, and range of amendments from the original game, with several calling them some of the most extensive used for a remastering. However, some gameplay design choices were met with split opinions, being seen as both dated and refreshingly simplistic compared with recent Call of Duty installments.

Modern Warfare Remastered features the original single-player campaign mode with the same collectibles and cheats as before, in addition to several new cheats. The core gameplay was intended to stay authentic and faithful to the original version, but includes a few minor modifications. Throughout the campaign, new first-person animations occur on a few occasions when the player is required to carry out a predetermined action in order to progress, such as removing a character's bonds during one of the levels. Another adjustment made for a greater sense of realism involves moving whilst in the prone position; unlike in the original game, the equipped weapon is now visible to the player, and whilst crawling, the gamepad will give off slight feedback as it makes contact with the ground.

The multiplayer features 16 maps. Ten of the maps were available at launch, while six additional maps were released as a free update. It includes the same weapons, killstreaks, perks, and game modes, as well as modes from other Call of Duty installments such as "Kill Confirmed", "Gun Game" and "Hardpoint". Several new weapons not featured in the original were added. The multiplayer also offers a greater variety of customization options for profile personalization, character skins, and weapon camouflage, which can all be unlocked through experience points. Supply drops also allow players to receive these same items, but exclude original weapons and attachments. A firing range is also present in the multiplayer, allowing the player to test out different guns. Pressing down on the gamepad's D-pad in multiplayer when a weapon is equipped will initiate a brief animation, such as allowing the player to inspect the side of the gun that is otherwise hidden while in the default position.
