The California Baptist Lancers are the 18 varsity athletic teams that represent California Baptist University, located in Riverside, California, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Lancers compete as members of the Pacific West Conference (PacWest) for most sports. Several Lancers teams compete in other conferences in sports that the PacWest does not sponsor. Three teams compete at the Division II level in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference—men's and women's swimming & diving plus wrestling. Two other teams compete as effective Division I members in sports that do not have a Division II national championship. Men's water polo competes in the Western Water Polo Association and women's water polo competes in the Golden Coast Conference. Men's volleyball, another sport without a Division II national championship, had competed at the Division I level in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) from the 2012 season (2011–12 school year) until CBU dropped the sport shortly after the 2017 season. The Lancers are also members of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA)

On July 12, 2010, California Baptist University was accepted to the NCAA Division II transition process. During the transition process the university's athletic teams were ineligible for NCAA postseason competition. CBU received full membership into the NCAA during the 2013–14 academic year. The university previously competed in the NAIA's Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC). California Baptist had been a member of the NAIA since 1969 and has won 26 GSAC championships and 19 NAIA National Championships.

In January 2017, California Baptist announced a move to Division I. They would join the Western Athletic Conference. The transition would begin after the 2017-18 season and the school will be eligible for Division I postseason competition for the 2022-23 season.
