CPL Aromas is a British fragrance company founded in December 1971,with headquarters in Bishop's Stortford, England.

The company is a global, family-owned business established in 1971 operating from 17 locations and serving customers in over 100 countries. The Group employs over 500 permanent staff worldwide including 30 perfumers located in Creative Centers throughout the world.

Its audited accounts for the year ended 31 March 2014 showed sales of £68.4 M ($110M).

CPL Aromas story began a century ago when John Pickthall first experimented with enhancing the toiletries of his time. His son Jack, an innovative chemist and world-renowned perfumer, carried on where John left off and went on to shape the emerging perfume industry. It was Jack’s sons, Michael Pickthall, a senior perfumer with International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF), and his brother Terence Pickthall FCA who worked as a senior accountant at a number of firms, started Contemporary Perfumers Limited (CPL) and their children continue the family success story into the present day.

June 2016 - CPL Aromas Relocates to New Facility in Bishops Stortford Hertfordshire, UK

May 2015 - CPL Aromas opens its first factory in the Middle East in Dubai to produce fragrance concentrates

August 2013 - CPL Aromas Expands Presence in India to a new purpose built facility in Mumbai featuring full service sales, marketing and creative center.

2014 – CPL Aromas launches Aromacore

January 2012 – CPL Aromas launches Ecoboost technology that allows the CPL’s perfumers to formulate fragrances that are 10 times more concentrated than conventional fragrances and as such do not trigger any labeling requirements.

CPL Aromas is a longstanding partner of the Catholic Agency for Oversees Development (CAFOD), working year on year with CAFOD’s inspiring teams around the world to deliver much needed support to some of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable communities.

CPL Aromas is also the co-founder of the College of Fragrance for the Visually Impaired (COFVI), a charitable organisation dedicated to creating employment opportunities for the visually impaired in India’s fragrance industry.

CPL Aromas initiatives to minimize environmental impact through water conservation and protection by signing Sri Lankan Sustainable Farming Agreement.

The company has established a global environmental committee, charged with embedding sustainable practices across the business and with empowering its employees to work sustainably. CPL Aromas is ISO14000 accredited in the UK and works to these same high standards across all sites, globally.
