Buy Bust is an upcoming Philippine martial arts action film directed by Erik Matti and written by Matti and regular collaborator Michiko Yamamoto; it stars Anne Curtis and Brandon Vera. Matti has called it his "first full-on action film" in recent years, and it is scheduled for release by 2017.
Production for Buy Bust began as early as mid 2016 which, according to director Erik Matti, included: "finding a good mix of actors, training, pre-sales, test shoots, storyboards, training, pre-vis, look tests, set construction, training finding the right balance between budget ambition and resources". The screenplay was co-written by Matti and his wife and regular collaborator Michiko Yamamoto; it underwent a total of 16 revisions. Matti has described the project his "first full-on action film" in recent years.
Anne Curtis and former mixed martial arts fighter Brandon Vera were confirmed to have joined the cast in late June 2016. A week before filming, Curtis underwent rigorous training at the Scout Ranger Training School where she learned knife fighting in close quarters as well as basic weapon handling; her training regimen included running while encumbered with 12 kilograms of weight. Curtis preferred performing stunts by herself.
Principal photography began on March 28, 2017.
