The Busyconidae are taxonomic family of large sea snails, often known as whelks or true whelks. "True whelk" also refers to Buccinidae. Busyconidae consists of Recent and fossil species.
The Busyconidae were once treated as a subfamily of the Buccinidae, Busyconinae. Now they are treated as their own family.
