Bussy-sur-Moudon is a municipality in the district Broye-Vully in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.
Bussy-sur-Moudon is first mentioned in the 12th Century as Buxi.
Bussy-sur-Moudon has an area, as of 2009[update], of 3.09 square kilometers (1.19 sq mi). Of this area, 2.17 km2 (0.84 sq mi) or 70.2% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.69 km2 (0.27 sq mi) or 22.3% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.23 km2 (0.089 sq mi) or 7.4% is settled (buildings or roads).
Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 1.9% and transportation infrastructure made up 4.5%. Out of the forested land, 20.4% of the total land area is heavily forested and 1.9% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 56.3% is used for growing crops and 12.9% is pastures.
The municipality was part of the Moudon District until it was dissolved on 31 August 2006, and Bussy-sur-Moudon became part of the new district of Broye-Vully. The municipality is located in the western portion of the upper Broye valley.
The blazon of the municipal coat of arms is Paly of six Or and Gules, on a bar Argent a cauldron Sable; in chief Gules a cross Argent.
Bussy-sur-Moudon has a population (as of December 2015[update]) of 198. As of 2008[update], 7.4% of the population are resident foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years (1999–2009 ) the population has changed at a rate of 1.1%. It has changed at a rate of 2.2% due to migration and at a rate of 0% due to births and deaths.
Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks French (174 or 93.5%), with German being second most common (4 or 2.2%) and Portuguese being third (3 or 1.6%). There is 1 person who speaks Italian.
