Buruji Kashamu (born 19 May 1958) is a Nigerian politician who is serving as a Senator from Ogun State. He represents Ogun East in the current 8th National Assembly. Senator Kashamu is the Vice-Chairman of the Senate Committee on States and Local Government.
Senator Buruji Kashamu is a man of many parts. He is the Chairman/Chief Executive of Kasmal Group of Companies, an indigenous conglomerate with interests in hospitality, property, oil and gas, automobile and investment services. He is also the Chairman of the Group Kasmal SAL in Republic of Benin.
On the political front, he is chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (Nigeria) PDP in Ogun State. He was appointed as the Chairman, Organization and Mobilization Committee of the PDP in the South West zone of Nigeria, comprising the six states of Ogun, Lagos, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti. Ogun East Senatorial District covers nine local government areas (Ijebu North East, Ijebu North, Ijebu-Ode, Ijebu East, Ikenne, Odogbolu, Remo North, Sagamu, Ogun Waterside)
He is a multi-linguist who speaks French, English and Yoruba fluently. A detribalized Nigerian who has employed many Nigerians and foreigners from all walks of life. During the 28th March, 2015 National Assembly (Nigeria) election, he contested to represent Ogun East Senatorial District in the Senate on the platform of the People's Democratic Party (Nigeria). He won the election, defeating his closest rival with over 15, 000 votes. He is the highest elected official of the People's Democratic Party (Nigeria) in Ogun State being the only People's Democratic Party (Nigeria) senator from the state and one of the five People's Democratic Party (Nigeria) Senators from the South West geo-political zone.
