Stangle served as Analysis Group's CEO or Co-CEO from 1981 to 2004 and as Chairman of the firm’s Board of Directors from 1981 to 2016. He has accumulated over 35 years of experience directing large research projects in numerous industries on issues relating to antitrust, regulation, bankruptcy, ERISA, and securities matters. Global publications have distributed his views on a number of topics, including The Economic Times sharing his insights on securities class actions in India. He also co-authored a well-cited article on behavioral finance and the efficient market hypothesis with prominent economists, Burton Malkiel and Sendhil Mullainathan.

Stangle has also been acknowledged by peers and private organizations for his dedication to encouraging professional growth and teamwork. Since its founding as a three-person firm, Analysis Group has grown to over 700 employees and 11 offices. When Bloomberg asked how the company has continued to grow in challenging economic conditions, principals at the firm mentioned the company leadership's ability to nurture team-building and a collaborative culture. In 2012, Bates College created the annual "Stangle Award for Distinguished Service" to commemorate Stangle's continued dedication both to the college and to career development among young professionals.
