BoyleSports is the largest independent bookmaker in Ireland. Headquartered in Dundalk, County Louth, BoyleSports has 208 retail branches throughout the country. In addition to their retail stores, BoyleSports operates a telephone betting service, "Fon-A-Bet", an Internet-based betting service and a mobile betting app for smartphone users.
BoyleSports was established by John Boyle in 1982 when he opened his first betting shop in Market Hill in Newry, Northern Ireland. The organisation had 77 shops by August 2004, and opened their 100th store two years later. BoyleSports now employs over 1,700 people and has 210 retail branches in Ireland.
In February 2011, BoyleSports took over 17 new shops from Celtic Bookmakers, saving 100 jobs, then later that year BoyleSports saved 65 jobs with a strategic takeover of 15 William Hill shops.
BoyleSports' online product range includes Sports Betting, Virtual Betting, Poker, Casino, Games, Lotto and Bingo.
In November 2011, BoyleSports.com signed a major three-year sponsorship deal with Leopardstown racecourse. The new deal saw BoyleSports.com become the title sponsor for the opening day of the Leopardstown Festival, offering the potential of €150,000 worth of bonuses each year should any horse complete the Leopardstown and Cheltenham Festival double.
In 2014, BoyleSports became the headline sponsor for the Irish Grand National, held at Fairyhouse Racecourse each Easter Monday.
Also in 2014, BoyleSports became the headline sponsor for the Irish Greyhound Derby held in Shelbourne Park every September.
Other Irish sponsorships include the Boylesports.com Day at the Punchestown Festival, as well as a number of other greyhound sponsorships including the Coursing at Clonmel, Co Tipperary.
In 2014, BoyleSports and Irish national broadcaster RTE announced that BoyleSports would become the sponsor of the RTE Racing programmes across TV, radio and online. This was a two-year deal lasting up to the end of 2016.
In 2011 BoyleSports sponsored a Newmarket race meeting (July) in the UK, while from 2006 – 2009, BoyleSports were sponsors of the International Hurdle at Cheltenham.BoyleSports have been sponsors of the HWPA Awards Lunch and continue to support this event; with sponsorships from 2009.
Other major sponsorship deals included the BoyleSports Irish Guineas Festival at the Curragh, the BoyleSports Champion stakes at Shelbourne Park and the BoyleSports International at Dundalk Stadium.
In May 2007 BoyleSports announced a four-year contract to sponsor Sunderland A.F.C. in the Premier League. This deal saw BoyleSports become Sunderland's official Betting and Gaming partner. BoyleSports also provided betting facilities throughout the Stadium of Light.
