Bonifacio Day is a Philippine national holiday commemorating the life of Andrés Bonifacio, one of the Philippines' national heroes. It is celebrated the birth of Andrés Bonifacio the Father of the Philippine Revolution.
Bonifacio Day is held on 30 November, or the Monday nearest this day to create a long weekend. Unlike, José Rizal Commemoration in Rizal Day, Bonifacio Day is celebrated on his day of birth, rather than his day of death. This is because Bonifacio was executed by his fellow revolutionaries, rather than at the hands of foreign colonizers.
Bonifacio day became a holiday when the Philippine Legislature passed Act No. 2946 was declare as of November 30 as of a national holiday of the birth of Andrés Bonifacio to whom started the revolution to overthrew the Spanish government on the island. The holiday was first instituted with a decree and signed by Governor-General Francis Burton Harrison in 1921 .
