SmartFolio is a Canadian robo-advisor service launched by the Bank of Montreal (commonly called 'BMO') on January 18, 2016. BMO is the first of Canada's 'Big Five (banks)' to launch a robo-advisor service.
The minimum investment amount required for a SmartFolio account is CAD $5,000, with fees being charged as a percentage of assets under management. BMO has faced some criticism for offering only their own investment products through the service, whereas other online portfolio managers offer investment products from a variety of providers.
