Blumentritt LRT station is a station on the Manila LRT (LRT-1). Like all other LRT-1 stations, Blumentritt station is above-ground. The station serves Sampaloc in Manila. The station itself is located near Blumentritt Road, which the station was named after. The street itself is named to honor Bohemian professor Ferdinand Blumentritt, one of José Rizal's closest associates and a sympathizer of the Propaganda Movement.
Blumentritt station serves as the seventh station for LRT-1 trains headed for Baclaran, the fourteenth station for trains headed to Roosevelt, and is one of the five LRT stations serving Santa Cruz District, the others being Tayuman, Bambang, Doroteo Jose, and Carriedo.
It is the second-to last station on Rizal Avenue before the line shifts to Rizal Avenue Extension at Abad Santos station.
The station is near the San Roque De Manila Parish, Blumentritt flea market and Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center. Like its southern counterpart at Tayuman, it is also near the old San Lazaro Hippodrome, which now houses SM City San Lazaro, Avida Towers, Celadon Residences and Vertex One. The station is also near Manila North Cemetery and Quezon City, which is mentioned as the "Lechon Capital of the Philippines.
