The Rolling Stone Jazz Record Guide |
Blowing in from Chicago is an album by American jazz saxophonists Cliff Jordan and John Gilmore featuring performances recorded in 1957 and released on the Blue Note label. The CD reissue added a bonus track from the same session.
The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow awarded the album a 5 stars stating "Clifford Jordan's first date as a leader actually found him sharing a heated jam session with fellow tenor John Gilmore. [...] This was one of Gilmore's few sessions outside of Sun Ra's orbit and, if anything, he slightly overshadows the cooler-toned Jordan. Recommended."
