Bir Malla was the forty-seventh king of the Bagdi Malla dynasty of Mallabhum. He ruled from 1501 to 1554 CE.
During his period, famous Surpanagar pond was dug on the bank of Dwarakeshwar river. He is famous for "'Akteshwar Siva temple"' which was established during his rule. Many other temples were established then around Mallabhum.
The district, 'Birbhum' bears the name of Bir Malla who ruled in the area.
