Billy Napier is an American football coach and former player. He is the head coach of the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns. Napier is a native of Chatsworth, Georgia and attended Furman University. He was the quarterback at Furman from the 2000 to 2002 seasons. After he graduated from Furman, he headed to Clemson and became a graduate assistant. At Clemson, he learned many skills that would go on and help him as he accepted a coaching position at South Carolina State in 2004. Overall, Napier spent 6 years at Clemson as a graduate assistant, recruiting coordinator, tight ends coach, and offensive coordinator. In 2009, Napier was given the Offensive Coordinator job at Clemson, the youngest person given the position at the time. In 2010, Napier moved his office to Alabama, where he would become the offensive analyst and wide receivers coach under Nick Saban and would help his team go to two national titles: (2011 and 2015). During those times at Alabama, Napier became the QB coach and assistant head coach at Colorado State. After Napier's second stint with Alabama, he was hired by Arizona State to be the offensive coordinator, the position he had once held at Clemson. He led the offense of Arizona State to a 7–5 record and a Sun Bowl trip, but after only one season, Napier left. On December 15, 2017, Napier accepted the head coaching spot for the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin'Cajuns, which was vacant after the firing of Mark Hudspeth, who had brought the team to a 5–7 record the previous season. This will be Napier's first time as head coach for a college team.
