Billy Mehmet (born 3 January 1985) is a professional football player who plays for DPMM in the S.League, the highest level of domestic football in Singapore. Born in London, of English, Irish and Turkish Cypriot descent, he has played for the Republic of Ireland U21 team.
Mehmet attended Bacon's College, Rotherhithe, he is a product of West Ham United Academy and was signed by the club at the age of eight and spent eleven years with West Ham United before transferring to the Scottish Premier League at the age of 19. He spent seven years in Scotland with Dunfermline Athletic and St Mirren. Mehmet has also played in the Turkish Super Lig with Gençlerbirliği S.K. and Samsunspor as well as spending 2 years in Australia, playing in the Hyundai A-League with Perth Glory. Mehmet made his move into Southeast Asian Football when he was bought by Thai Premier League side Bangkok Glass for an undisclosed fee. In 2014 whilst playing for Kedah FA Mehmet was the top goal scorer in all competitions in the Malaysia Premier League, scoring 23 goals in 26 appearances. In 2015 Mehmet was the clubs top goal scorer at Sarawak FA and finished as the third top goal scorer in the Malaysian Super League.
