Big Three (Cleveland Cavaliers)

The Big Three were a trio of professional basketball players for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA) that played together from the 2014–15 NBA season to the 2016-17 NBA season . The Big Three consisted of NBA all-stars point guard Kyrie Irving, small forward LeBron James, and power forward Kevin Love. All three players were selected within the first five picks of their respective drafts, with Irving and James going number one overall, prior to the trio's formation.

The Big Three led the Cavaliers to three straight NBA Finals appearances, including a championship victory in 2016. On August, 22, 2017 Kyrie Irving was traded to the Boston Celtics ending the Big Three era in Cleveland.

On July 11, 2014, LeBron James announced that he would rejoin the Cleveland Cavaliers. A month later, the Cleveland Cavaliers traded for Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Kevin Love in a three team deal.

Led by rookie head coach David Blatt, the Cavaliers started the season with a poor start, winning only 19 of their first 39 games. The Cavaliers would then turn it around by trading for new players to play around the Big Three including Iman Shumpert, J. R. Smith, and Timofey Mozgov. These trades proved to be beneficial as the Cavaliers then ended up going 34–9 in their final 43 games to finish with a 53–29 record. The Cavaliers won the Central Division title and entered the playoffs as the #2 seed in the Eastern Conference.
