Big Brother (Portugal)


Big Brother Portugal is a Portuguese reality show version of a Dutch show, produced by Endemol for Portuguese channel TVI, after SIC dropped the program. TVI launched the show and, since its beginning, it was a great success. Big Brother Portugal had seven editions with three being celebrity version and on 2010 the fifth edition aired: Secret Story 1, based on the French version.

The first Big Brother began on 3 September 2000 and finished 120 days later, the 31 December 2000. The winner of reality show was Zé Maria.

On 2014, the season was re-aired in Mais TVI, a cable channel from TVI.

The second series of Big Brother Portugal began on 21 January 2001 and finished 120 days later, the 20 May 2001. The winner of reality show was Henrique (Icas).

The third series of Big Brother started on 2 September 2001 and finished 121 days later, the 31 December 2001. The winner of reality show was Catarina. The first woman to win Big Brother Portugal.

The first Celebrity Big Brother series started on 8 September 2002 and finished on 4 November 2002 it lasted 58 days with housemate Ricky emerging the winner.

The second Celebrity Big Brother series started on 4 November 2002 and finished on 31 December 2002 it lasted 58 days with housemate Vítor emerging the winner.

The fourth series of Big Brother began on 31 August 2003 and finished 120 days later, the 31 December 2003. The winner of reality show was Fernando (Nando). The grand cash prize was 100,000 Euro.
