"Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning)" is a song recorded by the American alternative rock band Vertical Horizon on their fourth album Everything You Want, which was released in 1999. It was released as a single in 2001. It served as the band's fourth overall single, and their third consecutive Top Ten hit on the Billboard Adult Top 40 charts.
Gary Allan’s remake of the song hit #7 on the Billboard Country Singles chart in 2005.
In 2005, country music singer Gary Allan recorded a cover version for his album Tough All Over. Allan's version, entitled "Best I Ever Had" upon its release to radio, became his eighth Top 19 hit on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts in mid-2005.
"Best I Ever Had" debuted at number 56 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs for the week of June 11, 2005.
The music video for Gary Allan's version of the song was directed by Paul Boyd and starred Gary Allan and Laura Quirk.
