Beri is a town and a Municipal committee in the Jhajjar district northern Indian state of Haryana. The City is located 60 kilometres (37 mi) northwest of Delhi and is a trading center.Beri is one of the largest Tehsils of Haryana State including 77 villages.Beri City is situated on Road Connecting Gurgaon to HISAR via Jhajjar-Kalanaur-Meham State Highway No.122, The first Chief Minister of Haryana, Bhagwat Dayal Sharma, was from Beri City. The Town has a World's Famous temple dedicated to the goddess Mata Bhimeshwari and Lord Krishna.
As of 2011[update] India census, Beri had a population of Approx. 30,000. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Beri has an average literacy rate of 70% Higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 57% of the males and 43% of females literate. 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Beri City is the Administrative Headquarters of Beri Sub-division(a Tehsil before August 15, 2009) in Jhajjar district in the state of Haryana, India. Sant Lal Pachar became its first SDM. Presently Sh. Sanjay Rai holds the post of SDM Beri, The City has its own Tehsil Head office, Sub Divisional Courts and Mini Secretariat on Jhajjar-Hisar Highway. Presently Kanwarpal Yadav holds the post of Tehsildar Beri. Beri has two gausalas on the outskirts Beri City is also famous for Its Khoya Burffis & of Gunga Halwai, Famous Samose of Bhagwan Das Halwai, M Of Naanu Halwai. Beri has its own Police Station on Gurgaon-jhajjar-Bhiwani Road. The Police Station is headed by Sh.Daya Chand(SHO)
Beri Town and Sub-Division, Which previously fells under District Rohtak, Haryana, is now a part of newly created Jhajjar district from July 15, 1997 onwards. It is a Very Large village and is also one of the seats of Haryana Vidhan Sabha constituency. Dr.Raghubir Singh Kadian is Present M.L.A From congress of Halka Beri. The Politics of Beri Halka is Famous from Independence in Haryana State. After the creation of Haryana on 1 November 1966, the First Chief Minister of the State, Dr.Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma, was from this village.The Hospital in Rohtak P.G.I.M.S was Also Named on Him.(Pt.B.D Sharma Post Graduate Institute Of Medical Sciences).His daughter Aarti Kadian is Senior chief Lady Doctor in AIIMS Delhi.Pt.Baghwat Dayal Samadhi was also built in the outskirts of Beri Village.
