Bear Creek Township is a civil township of Emmet County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township population was 5,269.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 45.8 square miles (119 km2), of which 39.6 square miles (103 km2) is land and 6.2 square miles (16 km2) (13.48%) is water.Petoskey is northeast of the township.
As of the census of 2000, there were 5,269 people, 2,001 households, and 1,416 families residing in the township. The population density was 133.0 per square mile (51.4/km²). There were 2,969 housing units at an average density of 75.0 per square mile (28.9/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 96.32% White, 0.09% African American, 1.73% Native American, 0.59% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.23% from other races, and 1.02% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.02% of the population.
There were 2,001 households out of which 36.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.9% were married couples living together, 8.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.2% were non-families. 23.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.07.
