Batman vs. Two-Face is an upcoming 2017 American animated direct-to-video superhero film produced by Warner Bros. Animation and distributed by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. It is a sequel to Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders. It will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on October 17, 2017. Based on the 1960s Batman TV series, the film stars Adam West (in his final role before his death), Burt Ward and Julie Newmar reprising their roles of Batman, Robin and Catwoman from the series.
At Gotham State Penitentiary in the presence of Batman, Robin, and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Dr. Hugo Strange and his assistant Dr. Harleen Quinzel carry out an experiment on five selected inmates; Joker, Penguin, Riddler, Egghead and Mr. Freeze in an attempt to remove their evil with a machine called the Evil Extractor. The experiment goes wrong and Harvey is exposed to the gas from the Evil Extractor's collection vat, scarring the left side of his face, despite Batman's intervention. The effects of the gas causes Harvey to become Two-Face as he becomes a player in the Gotham City underworld. Now Batman and Robin must work to defeat Two-Face.
A sequel, entitled Batman vs. Two-Face, is planned to be released in 2017 with William Shatner voicing Two-Face as the main antagonist. Although not official, it seems that the sequel's story would be based on an unproduced two-part episode script entitled "The Two-Way Crimes of Two-Face" written by Harlan Ellison for the original series which was scrapped due its dark nature. On June 9, 2017, Batman's voice actor Adam West died from leukemia. Despite this, according to Bleeding Cool, West and Shatner recorded their lines separately with West finishing his lines by October 2016. However, it was also stated that the film is in post-production and that it could likely see a release in early 2018.Burt Ward and Julie Newmar are also attached to reprise their roles as Robin and Catwoman.
