Barttelot baronets

The Barttelot Baronetcy, of Stopham in the County of West Sussex, is a title in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 14 June 1875 for the Conservative politician Walter Barttelot. The Barttelots are said to have come into England with William the Conqueror, and to have fixed their residence at a place called La Ford, in the parish of Stopham. The family surname is pronounced "Bartlot".

As of 2007 the title is held by his great-great-grandson (the title having descended in the direct line), Colonel Sir Brian Barttelot Bt OBE DL, the fifth Baronet, who succeeded his father in 1944. He is a Colonel in the Coldstream Guards and a Vice-President of the Standing Council of the Baronetage.

The heir presumptive to the baronetcy is Robin Ravenscroft Barttelot (born 1943), the brother of the 5th Baronet. His heir-in-line is Hugo Ravenscroft Barttelot (born 1990), his son.
