The Bangladesh Army Reserve (BAR) is a federal reserve force of Bangladesh Army. Together, Bangladesh Army Reserve Force, Bangladesh National Cadet Corps and Bangladesh Ansar form the reserve components of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. The Chief of General Staff of Bangladesh Army serves as the commander of the Reserve forces, while three Major General directs the forces. The current General Officer Commanding of Army Training and Doctrine Command (ARTDOC) is Lieutenant General Aziz Ahmed, while Major General Mijanur Rahman Khan directs the Ansar and Brigadier General S.M. Ferdous serves as the Director of Cadet Corps.
The Bangladesh Army currently world's 6th largest army reserve with 2.28 million personnel; 472,000 coming from Army Training and Doctrine Command, 65,000 from Bangladesh National Cadet Corps and 1.8 million from Bangladesh Ansar.
