Bagolatao is one of the 25 barangays of Minalabac, Camarines Sur located along the Ragay Gulf. It is 35 kilometers from the municipality of Minalabac and 25 kilometers from Naga City. The coastal barangay can be reached by land via jeepney or private vehicle. Travel time is 40 to 60 minutes from the Naga City. It can also be reached by water through a rented motorized boat from the Pasacao port.
The word bagolatao is a combination of two Bicol terms bagol (coconut shell) and latao, also written as lataw (float). It refers to the huge coral reef along the coast that looks like a floating coconut shell during high tide.
In the mid 2000s, tourism in Bagolatao was boosted primarily due to road improvement by the municipal government which made it more accessible. A cellular network installation in the neighboring barangay of Salingogon also made mobile communication possible. The Philippine Army barracks at Del Socorro, Hobo and Salingogon also improved the peace and order situation of the coastal area.
Beach cottages along the shore are owned and operated by the residents. Rest houses for overnight stays and group gatherings are also available. Bagolatao has a three kilometer shoreline of white pebbles.
