"Back Here" is the debut single by British pop rock band BBMak. It was written by the three members of the group (Mark Barry, Christian Burns and Stephen McNally) along with songwriter Phil Thornalley. It appears on BBMak's debut studio album, Sooner or Later.
"Back Here" was released in The United Kingdom, in April 11, 2000, where it made the Top 40 on the UK Singles Chart in August, peaking at number 37. And proved more successful in The United States, rising to number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 in July of that year and remaining in the Top 40 for 24 weeks. It also spent seven weeks atop the US Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks chart that same year. The single was re-released in the UK in February 2001 and made the Top 10 on the UK Singles Chart, debuting at #5.
After BBMak disbanded in 2003, the former members have pursued solo careers in the music and entertainment business. "Back Here" remains the group's biggest hit in either the UK or the US. This song was featured on the 2000 compilation album, Now That's What I Call Music! 5 and also can be found on the 2001 Radio Disney Jams compilation, Radio Disney Jams, Vol. 3. It also appeared on MTV Classic's House of Pop block.
