Aurivirus (syn. Haliotivirus) is a genus of viruses in the order Herpesvirales, in the family Malacoherpesviridae. Haliotidae molluscs serve as natural hosts. There is currently only one species in this genus: the type species Haliotid herpesvirus 1. Diseases associated with this genus include: acute ganglioneuritis.
Group: dsDNA
Viruses in Aurivirus are enveloped, with spherical to pleomorphic geometries, and T=16 symmetry. The diameter is around 150 nm. Genomes are linear and non-segmented, around 212kb in length.
Viral replication is nuclear. DNA-templated transcription is the method of transcription. Haliotidae molluscs serve as the natural host.
