Attack of the Mayan Mummy is a B grade horror film from 1964. It was directed by Jerry Warren.
An expedition led by a scientist wanders into a tomb and becomes the target of a mummy. A Mayan princess comes back to life centuries later. She becomes reunited with her warrior lover.
In Bill Pronzini's Tales of the Dead, he referred to Attack of the Mayan Mummy, and Wrestling Women Versus the Aztec Mummy being the worst of the mummy genre, but he commented on their unintentional funniness. The film which was originally a Mexican production called La Momia Azteca had extra scenes with Richard Webb added by Jerry Warren. Much of the original Spanish dialog scenes were omitted. This also solved the problem of redubbing original Spanish dialogue into English. In a addition to his role in directing the film, Warren also produced it. The original uncut Spanish version (with English subtitles) is thankfully still available on dvd.
