Asterax is a Macintosh adaptation of the classic shoot 'em up Asteroids, unique for its addition of a monetary element that can be used to purchase persistent power-ups and score bonuses. It was created by Arvandor Software, a group of students at Stanford University, and was released as shareware in 1994.
In addition to its single-player mode, the game allowed two people to share a keyboard and play competitively or co-operatively.
Asterax was developed using the Sprite Animation Toolkit.
