Highway 549, known as the Bella Vista Bypass, is the temporary designation of Future Interstate 49 (I-49) near Bella Vista in the U.S. state of Arkansas. It currently consists of a short segment of freeway near Hiwasse.
The AR 549 designation was signed again in 2014 as the temporary designation to the Bella Vista Bypass. This segment was signed in late April and runs for approximately three miles (4.8 km) as a two-lane expressway, with room to expand up to four lanes.
In its current state, AR 549 begins at an interchange with AR 72 southeast of Hiwasse. The freeway passes over AR 279 with no interchange, running in an east-west direction. AR 549 turns towards the northwest and passes under an interchange with AR 72 and continue northwest and north where now Arkansas Highway 549 ends at a temporary northern terminus is at County Road 34.
The Bella Vista Bypass is to start at an interchange with I-49 and U.S. Highway 71 (US 71) in Bentonville. The bypass will run in an east–west direction to Hiwasse and turn to the north at the interchange with AR 72 west of the town. Running along the western edge of Bella Vista, the bypass is to enter Missouri. After an interchange with Missouri Route 90, the bypass will rejoin US 71 near Pineville, Missouri. When the entire section has been upgraded to interstate standards, it will be signed as I-49.
