Argoed High School is a secondary school in Flintshire, Wales. The school's motto is "Succeeding Together for Excellence in Learning".
It was built in Bryn-y-baal in 1978 as the then Clwyd County's first purpose built 11-16 school at a time when the county authorities were proposing to introduce a tertiary system. The first head teacher was Bryn Ellis. The school has stayed the same for most of its 30 years but recent building work started by Alison Brown (the school's third headteacher) has seen a new reception and sports hall.
The school has enjoyed much academic and sporting success, with its GCSE results being some of the best in Wales. In 2008, Argoed reported its best ever results which put them in the top 15 schools in the whole of Wales. Then-headteacher Simeon Molloy said: "As ever, the girls' results were outstanding, but credit must go to the boys who massively over-achieved this year." 76 per cent of pupils at the school got five A* to C grades and all pupils got at least one grade A* to G.
