Anthroponomastics (or anthroponymy), is a branch of onomastics, and is the study of anthroponyms (<Gk. ἄνθρωπος anthrōpos, 'human', + ὄνομα onoma, 'name'), the names of human beings.
As well as linguists, researchers in many fields take part in anthroponymic studies, including anthropologists, historians, political geographers and genealogists.
