Anthroponomastics (or anthroponymy) is the study of the names of human beings. The study of anthroponyms (from Greek ἄνθρωπος anthrōpos, 'human' and ὄνομα onoma, 'name'), is a branch of onomastics. Besides linguists, researchers in many fields take part in anthroponymic studies, including anthropologists, historians, political geographers and genealogists.
