"Animal Army" is a song by Babylon Zoo, released as the second single from their debut album The Boy with the X-Ray Eyes and the follow-up to the band's UK number 1 début single "Spaceman". It was released in April 1996 and failed to duplicate the success of that single, reaching #17 in the UK Singles Chart and lasting only a further week in the Top 40 before vanishing. In Australia, "Animal Army" peaked at #59 in June 1996, and spent 6 weeks in the top 100 ARIA singles chart.
The single featured an expensive and audacious music video. Select were harshly critical of the single, saying: "No amount of nudity, drugs or free stuff would help make this low-rent gothic mush any better."Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo, in reviewing the track, opined that "it isn't nearly as good as ['Spaceman']."
