Andrew Colvin


Andrew Colvin is an Australian police officer and the current Commissioner of the Australian Federal Police and a Member of the Order of Australia (OAM).

From July 2009 and May 2010 he studied for and received a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.

Andrew Colvin is married with two children.

He joined the Australian Federal Police in 1990. He has worked in policing narcotics, money laundering, politically motivated crime, illegal pornography and terrorism financing. He oversaw Australia's policing response to the 2002 Bali bombings, for which he was awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 2003, and the Australian Embassy bombings in Jakarta.

In 2008 Andrew Colvin was awarded the Australian Police Medal (APM).

He replaced Commissioner Tony Negus as head of the AFP in September 2014.
