Andrei Iancu is an American engineer and attorney. Currently serving as the managing partner of Irell & Manella, he has been nominated by President Donald Trump to become Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Iancu's legal practice focuses on intellectual property litigation. He has taught patent law at the University of California, Los Angeles, which is his alma mater. As a lawyer, Iancu has appeared in front of the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the United States International Trade Commission, U.S. district courts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He began his career as an engineer at Hughes Aircraft Company.
