Andrea Sironi (born 13 May 1964) is an Italian academic. He is a Professor of Banking and Finance at Bocconi University, where he was the rector from 2012 to 2016. He serves as the chairman of Borsa Italiana, Italy's stock exchange.
Andrea Sironi was born on 13 May 1964 in Milan, Italy. He graduated from Bocconi University with a degree in economics.
Sironi began his career in finance. In 1995, he joined the faculty at his alma mater, Bocconi University, where he subsequently became a Professor of Banking and Finance. He was a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve in Washington, D.C. in 2000.
Sironi served as its rector from 2012 to 2016, when he was succeeded by Gianmario Verona. In this capacity, he encouraged faculty to publish research in English as opposed to Italian, and he promoted social mobility by waiving tuition for underprivileged students. Sironi also served as the chairman of the Global Alliance in Management Education from 2014 to 2016.
Since January 2016, Sironi has served as the chairman of Borsa Italiana, Italy's stock exchange. Since October 2016, he has also served as a non-executive director of the .
Sironi is married, and he has three children.
